The official Developer Q&A Live gives some interesting discussion about the state of the MSFS, ongoing bugs, upcoming features, and the overall future of the franchise. The one-and-a-half-hour-long developer’s interview is usually held every month with Jorg Neumann, the head of Microsoft Flight Simulator, along with Sebastian Wloch and Martial Bossard from Asobo Studio.   • Sim Update 7, aka Game of the Year Edition, will be available on Thursday, November 18 at 16:00 UTC.
  • World Update 7 will cover Australia with updated satellite imagery, a new digital elevation model, and a bunch of point-of-interest, coming on January 25, 2022.
  • Sim Update 8 contains only bug fixes, coming in late February 2022.
  • PMDG teases with a possibility of Boeing 757 development in progress.
  • Flight dynamics for helicopters are under development. Asobo is testing a new propeller flight model due to this.
  • Chinese localization is coming with Sim Update 8.
  • The upcoming replay system will be the same tool that Asobo uses to make trailers, not the best user interface yet, but feedback is expected.
  • DirectX 12 support comes with Sim Update 7, you can turn it ON, but there are no performance benefits yet.
  • Forced logbook pop-up after a flight can be disabled with Sim Update 7.
  • Work with the upcoming Scenery Gateway is now ongoing.
  • The crash-to-desktop issues are kept as the number 1 bug until the sim is stable enough.
  • A new partner, FlightSim Studio AG, was introduced for gliders compatibility development.
  • AI-based ATC with voice recognition is under investigation.
  • The overexposed sky colors will be fixed with Sim Update 8.
  • Supersonic flight model and afterburner effects are available for 3rd party developers.
  • Livery editor is coming in the far future.
  • Meteoblue and Asobo have made improvements to the weather engine including more accurate METAR conditions with Sim Update 7. For example, you can see the local fog layer over the airport.
  • Marketplace will get an upgrade for the user interface with Sim Update 8.
  • Memory leak issues are fixed with Sim Update 7 but this doesn’t mean they are completely gone, more fixing is provided further.
