All the previous Developer Q&A’s can be watched here. The latest Developer Q&A Live was held on September 29 at 17:30 UTC, below is the discussion in a nutshell. Watch the whole developers live interview at the end of this article.

  • Sim Update 6 is coming on Tuesday, October 19, and includes a lot of improvements listed below.
  • Trees are pushed back further out with new LOD implementation.
  • The flight model is improved for aerobatic plane’s behavior and when flying fast close to the ground.
  • The ground effect behavior is added and is possible to edit by the aircraft developers.
  • A basic wake turbulence effect is added, this will be developed even further in 2022.
  • Night lightning which is seen from high altitude has been improved and rendered further out.
  • Terrain Level of Detail slider will be furthered out from 200 to 400, this helps to draw better terrain, the houses and trees further.
  • Working Title brings a new flight plan system to MSFS at the time of Sim Update 6.
  • Working Title will update the Garmin G1000 NXi and CJ4 systems even more before the end of the year.
  • Working Title will improve the stock Boeing 747 and 787 as well as the G3000 in the future.
  • Opening the Live Weather for 3rd parties has license restrictions but will be looked at in the future for sure.
  • Work with the upcoming helicopters has been initially started, needs the physics modeling first.
  • Multiple screen functionality is planned for the year 2022.
  • Replay functionality is in the beta stage.
  • DirectX 12 for PC is in a test phase and coming optional by the end of the year.
  • The upcoming Scenery Gateway has been stalled, Microsoft is looking for a new developer to do it.
  • Partner for gliders has been found, it will be revealed later on.
  • Crash-to-desktop issues are looked at very seriously, the sim sends the CTD report automatically to Asobo if one happens so it helps a lot to fix them.
  • Most of the crash-to-desktop issues are because of 3rd party add-on incompatibility.
  • Live Weather will be improved by Meteoblue to increase the update interval and density of the weather data to make the weather match more real-time conditions.
  • Meteoblue will inject the METAR data into their weather data so the Live Weather will be much more accurate near airports.
  • The big weather update, including the previous notes, will come next year or in 2023.
  • In 2022 there will be Sim Update that only concentrate on fixing old bugs, not bringing new features.
  • NAVBLUE Charts+ service will delay, no schedule known yet.
  • Sim Update 6 fixes the too draggy clouds bug when flying inside clouds.
  • Accurate visibility conditions are very tricky to implement in the weather system, but they will be looked at in the future.
